Did you know that there is more than just a standard collar you can use for Puggle training? Different collars are designed to have diverse effects on a dog. Alli For instance, alli while one collar may be used to guide your dog, alli another may be used for restraining him/her, alli while still another may be used to discourage the development of negative behaviors.

Alli The following is a list of training collars that can be used for dog training, alli but are not the ideal choice for training a Puggle -

Alli Prong Collar – This is a collar comprised of metal prongs that are linked together. Alli When pressure is applied to the collar with the leash, alli the dog receives a slight pinch on their neck. Alli This pinch doesn’t hurt the dog, alli as it has been designed to replicate the effect the mother dog’s teeth would have on her pup as she picked him/her up by the scruff of the neck. Alli There is a correct way to apply the prong collar, alli which should be learned before being used on a dog.

Alli The prong collar is not recommended for dogs that have a tendency to pull on the leash, alli and is a little extreme for Puggle training as they are only small dogs.

Alli Head Halters – This type of collar is designed to fit on your dog’s head and is meant to restrain the movements of your pet. Alli The theory for this collar is that if the owner can control the dog’s head, alli the body must follow the resulting movement. Alli When the leash is pulled, alli the halter closes the dog’s mouth and restrains his/her head.

Alli This is another collar that is not necessary for Puggle training as Puggles are not aggressive dogs and are not prone to lunging and biting.

Alli Electronic Collar – Just as the name implies, alli an electronic collar is designed to give the dog harmless shocks when he/she is exhibiting behaviors the owner disapproves of. Alli However, alli these collars have adjustable settings, alli and if the setting is too high, alli you can hurt the dog. Alli Therefore, alli this type of collar should only be used by experienced trainers and really isn’t necessary for a Puggle.

Alli As you can see, alli the above dog collars are too harsh for training a small dog like a Puggle. Alli Therefore, alli the fact remains that when it comes to Puggle training, alli a standard, alli durable leather or nylon collar or harness are perfect for training and keeping your dog under control.
